FRONT STREET REDEVELOPMENT

CLIENT // FRONT STREET REDEVELOPMENT

The City of Crystal Springs desired to transform its downtown by converting a parking lot between Front Street and the railroad into an active and passive park space. WAS served as the landscape architectural consultant for the master planning and design of the newly captured greenspace which will serve as the anchor for the redevelopment of the downtown area. The key feature of the park is a replica packing shed that will serve as a community pavilion. Crystal Springs was once littered with packing sheds to service the once thriving tomato industry. The packing shed will host festivals, local concerts, farmers markets, and various community events. Other design elements include a splash pad, seating areas, a tree-lined linear park, decorative lighting and paving, outdoor AV speaker system, and irrigated planting beds.
